淡々と書かれた文章と、染みいる様に語られる真実。イギリスのたれこめた曇り空をイメージさせる、湿ったじっと凍えてくる話でした。悲しみが波打ち際に息静かに座っている感じです。

奇妙な事に、作品を読みながら以下の話を思い出していました。 大きな背景があり、周りの人は当たり前だと思って生活している。小さな違和感をもった主人公は小さな行動を起こし、納得を得る。そんな所が同じに見えたのかもしれません。

最後までヘールシャム以外の施設の事は、明に語られなかった為か、キャスやトミー、ルースやマダム、エミリやルーシーが何に抗っていたのかを掴みきれませんでした。ただこの様な未来ではなく万物理論のようにハッピーになれる未来をと思う一面、今既に世界はこの様なモノなのかもと思うのでした。

自分や周りの環境が変化したときに読みかえしたい話です。
